2025 Modules and Dates

  • The Practice is the Path: Exploring the Transformative Power of Yoga

In this module we follow Tias Little’s, “The Practice is the Path: Lessons and Reflections on the Transformative Power of Yoga” as our guide. We break down each chapter, expanding on philosophies and key concepts introduced in the book, with ample time for practice, inquiry, and reflection. This module lays the foundation for the training. Investigate the layers of the physical and subtle body, the tangible and unseen. This module is led by Shannon Stephens & Amanda Wood.

  • Mindfulness & Meditation: Nurturing Awareness, Insight, and Compassion

In our second module you will be introduced to mindfulness and meditation through a 2-day immersion. Subsequently, throughout the duration of the 300-hour course, mindfulness and meditation concepts and practices will be introduced and intermingled alongside other content with opportunities for self-reflection. A variety of teaching methods will be used, including small and large group discussions, lectures, and formal meditation practices. This module is led by Rashmi Bismark.

  • Gross Anatomy & Biomechanics of the Musculoskeletal System

In module 3 you will study the fundamentals of the musculoskeletal system and how to directly apply essential anatomical information and biomechanics to the yoga context. We’ll review the bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles of the body, and you will understand the makeup and function of the musculoskeletal system. We’ll look at ways to create purposeful and compelling class sequences based on a firm understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. This module is led by Shannon Stephens & Holly Bray.

  • Intro to the Fascia & Yoga Application

Movement and breath are the expression of yoga, and understanding the role of the fascia can help us to better understand how we move, sense the world, express ourselves, and evolve our understanding of modern Western postural yoga. This module offers the opportunity to further develop your understanding of anatomy and traditional asana/postures. We move beyond the classical, two-dimensional model of muscles, bones, and joints, and question traditional yoga alignment principles to inspire critical thinking and create new content for teaching. Explore contemporary asana and yoga philosophy through the study of movement, anatomy of the fascia, and exploration of the subtle body. This module is led by Shannon Stephens.

  • Exploring the Fascial Lines & Human Movement

In this module you will learn the anatomy of fascial lines to better understand your unique postural patterns and biomechanics. Working with the intelligence of the fascial lines, you will expand your understanding of the body, and broaden your ideas about what a modern yoga practice can look like. This module is led by Holly Bray.

  • Subtle Body Systems: Unveiling the Koshas and Mapping the Energy Points of the Body

In this module we will weave together an understanding of anatomy with subtle body systems for greater insight into our body’s sheer complexity and mystery. This section is intended to spark the imagination, implore metaphorical thinking, visualization, and sensory awareness to awaken to the universe within. We will journey from the feet to the crown, mapping out energetic points, following nerve tracts, the circulatory and lymphatic systems, the reproductive system, and the viscera of the abdomen, the central nervous system, and viscera of the chest. We’ll explore the subtle body through a variety of systems including:

    - Koshas

    - Ayurvedic Elements

    - 7 Chakras and Nadi systems

    - Vayus

This module is led by Amanda Wood, Shannon Stephens, & Holly Bray.

  • Neuroscience & Yoga: Meeting the Mind & Emotional Body

This module is an introduction to the important link between yoga and neuroscience. We will explore the space where classical yoga philosophy meets neuroscience, examine yoga from a holistic perspective of human existence, and identify the traditional or root intentions of the yoga practice (to bring homeostasis to the mind and the whole system to move to a deeper understanding of one’s true nature). This module is led by Amanda Wood.

  • Learning from Stillness & Rest: An Exploration of Yin and Restorative Yoga

In module 8 we will study the effects of stillness and rest on the body and mind through the lens of yin and restorative yoga. These are two very distinct styles, and we’ll begin by understanding what sets them apart from other forms of yoga and from each other. You’ll learn the benefits of yin yoga and how it effects our fascia and connective tissues, and how restorative yoga influences the nervous system. At the completion of this module you will be able to effectively guide students through yin and restorative practices, create yin and restorative yoga sequences, and offer variations and adaptations of postures to meet students’ needs. This module is led by Shannon Stephens & Aubrey Gary.

  • Inclusivity: Adapting Asana to Meet Your Students

In this module we analyze the changing landscape of modern yoga, what it really means to make yoga inclusive and accessible, and how we show up as teachers. We’ll examine a multitude of ways that we can welcome more diversity into our yoga classes and spaces and take yoga out of the typical setting and into our communities. This module is led by Jillian Woods, Aubrey Gary, and Shannon Stephens.

  • Cultivating the Mindful Teacher: Intelligent Sequencing, Group & Private Yoga

In our very last module you’ll assess your teaching to determine areas of potential growth and development. Through self-reflection and one-on-one conversations with your mentor, you’ll identify goals, create new content for teaching, and write a mission statement. This module may challenge your ideas and beliefs. We’ll encourage you to proceed with an open mind and heart. This module is led by Amanda Wood, Holly Bray, and Shannon Stephens.
