Pathways of Prana

  • 405 Northwest 30th Street Oklahoma City, OK, 73118 United States (map)

20-Hours | Led by Holly Bray

This advanced teacher training module explores the breath as both a physiological foundation for health and a powerful pathway toward energetic alignment and flow.

You’ll dive into the functional anatomy and physiology of breathing, examining the primary and secondary muscles of respiration, common dysfunctional patterns, and how imbalances impact energy levels, nervous system regulation, and overall resilience.

Through postural refinement, embodied movement, myofascial release, and conscious breath awareness, you’ll learn how to restore healthy breathing patterns in yourself and support your students in doing the same.

We’ll also explore the classical teachings of the five Vayus and the principle of Spanda, and how these subtle currents shape the experience of breath and energy. From there, we’ll study how prāṇa can be supported and guided through the Suṣumṇā and the network of subtle channels known as the Nāḍīs. You’ll learn how work with the bandhas to stabilize and direct prāṇic flow, helping to refine the movement of breath and deepen energetic awareness.

You’ll be introduced to foundational and advanced prāṇāyāma techniques and develop the skills to sequence and guide them safely and effectively within your teaching, with an emphasis on cultivating a breath-centric approach to yoga practice.

What You’ll Learn

  • How the primary and secondary muscles of respiration function and how they shape breath patterns

  • How to identify and unwind dysfunctional breathing habits through postural refinement, embodied movement, conscious breath awareness, and myofascial release

  • How prāṇa moves through the five Vayus and the Nāḍīs, and how work with these pathways to promote balance in both the physical and subtle body

  • The role of the bandhas in supporting structural stability and directing the flow of prāṇa

  • How to safely sequence and teach foundational and advanced prāṇāyāma techniques

  • How to design and teach breath-centric yoga classes, where breath is the organizing principle for pacing, sequencing, and cueing

What to Expect

This series is designed to support a slower, more integrated learning process, allowing you to absorb the material gradually, embody the practices, and apply them with confidence in your teaching and personal practice.

Each 3 hour session will include lecture, experiential breath labs, embodied movement, and time for reflection and discussion, all within a breath-centric framework.

Each participant will also receive a collection of video practices and guided breath explorations to support continued study and integration during and beyond our time together.

At the completion of this module, you’ll receive 20 hours of continuing education applicable toward This Land Yoga’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training or as Yoga Alliance CE hours.
